My mom watches the news all day, every day. She watches the news at 5 and 6. She watches it again at 10 and 11 and then turns to CNN and watches it for hours and hours. I can’t do it. Yes, I want to know what’s going on in the world, but at the same time, I don’t. She hears stuff and gets all worked up about it, but I choose not to listen and walk away. My peace of mind is found in praise and worship music. She got in the car with me the other day and was about to start up, and I was like, ” Nope,” don’t start that in here.” I may be a little harsh, but I choose peace regardless of all the craziness that is going on around me.
Just as the food we consume nourishes our bodies, the thoughts we entertain and the emotions we absorb significantly influence our overall well-being. Mind what you ingest. Be mindful of what you intake mentally, physically, and emotionally. Don’t attach yourself to everything and everybody. Some of those ingestions can cost you your life. What you watch, what you read, what you listen to, and what you eat all have the potential to cause you harm. Choose what feeds you and the sources it comes from carefully. The consequences of the things you consume now might not be apparent when you consume them, but they may affect you later in life. Protect yourself.
